So the site got hacked but hopefully due to thorough work by myself and Chris Merriman, my web host, hopefully every file has been cleaned. If anything tries to download automatically from this site, it’s a virus. Cancel the download if possible and don’t open anything. I never put downloads on this site! Also if that does happen leave a comment or write me an email.
Sort of a funny story how I found out: Someone wrote me recently asking if they could subscribe to KZBlog by email. That isn’t something I offer because personally I’m a big RSS user and I figure if I don’t use email subscriptions neither do any of my readers. However, I thought if there’s a demand, maybe I can set that up. So I looked into it and eventually settled on Feedburner as a service.
However, Feedburner kept giving me an error message. At this point my Internet dropped out so it wasn’t until later that I discovered the feed was faulty. So I checked the original feel, which was also faulty. This was how I discovered that feed.php had a lot of extra coding attached to it and in the process of doing that, I got a bit suspicious of the fact that every php file on my installation had been last updated at the same time. Sure sign of having been hacked.
So thank you, dear anonymous reader who wanted to be subscribed by email. And I have set that service up, if you click the link on the sidebar: Subscribe by Email
